Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are games played? When are the games?

A: The games are played at Wormwood Scrubs playing fields - follow the link for more information. Game times can be found on the schedule page.

Q: Can I get to the games by tube?

A: Yes, the fields are accessible on the tube -- the closest stop is East Acton. Consult the map to see exactly where the fields are in the park to determing the best way to get there by tube.

Q: Are team assignments final?

A: Generally yes. It is a large administrative burden to the league to move children from one team to another, so we generally will not do so except in exceptional cases.

Q: May I ask for my child to play on a team with another specified child?

A: We try to meet as many of these requests as possible but sometimes in the interest of balanced teams we will have to split players up, there are also occasions when some of the requests conflict with one another. Our coaches try to make sure that children don’t feel abandoned or without friends even if they don’t know anyone on the team at the beginning of the season.

Q: Is it ok for my child to arrive late because of other commitments?

A: Generally this is not a problem in the instructional leagues though it is disruptive. In the competitive leagues arrival more than thirty minutes after the start means that game time will be missed and this is discouraged. Please plan to arrive on time.

Q: What are try-outs for? Is my child guaranteed to be able to play?

A: Everyone who signs up will play and the League has an equal playing time policy. Try-outs are conducted by the Tottenham Coaches during the Clinics as we feel they provide an objective assessment. We want the teams to be as balanced as possible as this makes for exciting games. Team assignments will be made by the commissioners and are final.

Q: Does the league make a profit?

A: No, our operating budget is almost exactly the same as our receipts. Money for exceptional items, like new equipment, comes only from our sponsors.

Q: Does my child need any special clothing or equipment to play?

A: Each child will be supplied with a team shirt and a sweatshirt. You're child brings his/her own Football boots (rubber cleats are strongly recommended), the fields can get very muddy so sneakers are not recommended. We suggest children wear plenty of layers as conditions can change during the games.
