We hope everyone had some good time away and are getting back into the routine of the real world. We meant to send a note at the end of the 2016 season but it all got a little hectic after our annual “clean-out the shed day” and year-end Commissioner AGM. That said, on behalf of all of our Commissioners, umpires and other volunteers, we wanted to thank you again for making LondonSports 30th Anniversary Season a huge success. We had great games, spirited competition, incredible sportsmanship, threw our 1 millionth pitch and had a lot of fun. The kids played hard at every level, honed new skills, learned some life lessons and made new friends. Our guiding principles of sportsmanship, inclusiveness and promoting self-confidence on the windblown fields of Wormwood Scrubs was evident everywhere you looked in 2016. Congratulations again to Betsy Holden and Jonas Kolaja for being the first winners of the Don Guiney Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship. Well done.
So what’s next? Well, a lot. We are already off and running with our plans for 2017 … more baseball, more softball, more players, more fun. To that, and given the success of our new Boys Junior (U16) division and our U18 Girl Softball team, we will continue to focus additional time, effort and resources on more ball FOR ALL AGES up to 18 to “get more kids to the Scrubs.”
Now to the most important part – Dates for 2017 (subject to change)
So you can mark your calendars, Spring Training will begin March 11 and the Regular Season will begin on Saturday, APRIL 22th (which is the weekend AFTER Easter) and our Championship Weekend will be held on June 10th & 11th (which is the weekend BEFORE the American School gets out). We will obviously not play on Easter Weekend and have designated the weekend of May 27 – 29 as the Bank Holiday weekend that we will NOT play.

Regular Season - April 22 - June 3 (start after Easter with a week off at end of May)

National Championship Results for Baseball & Softball
We are happy to report the following results and congratulate all the players and dedicated coaches that implemented the huge increase in the quality of play in all our leagues over the last 3 years. It should be noted that most 2nd place finishes came down to the last at bat. These were well played baseball games and next year aim to win all categories! For Girls softball there aren’t any national championships or Little League play-offs, instead our players participate on the National team and our players hold over 60% of national team roster spots. Our softball players are spectacular and LondonSports is very proud of this unprecedented achievement.

Lastly, we would like to give a big round of applause to our 2016 sponsors – Caffe Nero, White & Case, Sidley Austin LLP and Virgin Atlantic for all of their commitment and support to our program this year. We are also happy to announce and welcome J.P. Morgan as a new charitable sponsor for the 2017 season. We are proud to partner with J.P. Morgan -- avid participants in the local community -- to help fund and enhance the 2017 season. As LondonSports is a registered, profit free, charitable organization we rely heavily on sponsorship to help keep the fees affordable to all. We are extremely grateful to the wide and diverse range of sponsors and personal donors who really do make a difference for our program.
Thanks again for a fantastic season. On behalf of all of the Commissioners and volunteers we wish you a happy and fun holiday season.
