Frequently Asked Questions

It's my first time coming to LondonSports, what do I need to know?

Getting to us: full details can be found on our "Where We Play" page.

What do I need to bring?

Wormwood Scrubs is a micro-climate and early in the season, may actually be based in the Arctic. We would recommend bringing layers for players and parents. We play on open playing fields in England, so it can be rainy, windy and muddy. Wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, bring waterproof clothes and many parents bring camping chairs or picnic blankets to have somewhere to sit.

What do I do for food?

We recommend bringing food, snacks and drinks - however, we do have Jack's BBQ come out and serve Hotdogs and Burgers - he only takes cash, so please come prepared. Skyco American candy store will be out again this season, although not every day.

What time do we start? And how long does it last?

Unless tolday otherwise, we aim to start at 9:30am on Saturdays and 11:30am on Sundays. For the younger leagues (Tball and Coaches Pitch), sessions run roughly 2 hours. With Coaches Pitch lasting a little longer, based on attention spans! Older leagues run for closer to 3 hours, although as they usually finish in a game, the timings are hard to be exact.

Can I leave my child while they play?

We play in a wide open space, with a a lot of players on a team. It would be impossible for a coach to keep an eye on all players, while carrying out the coaching and running of the day. We ask that a responsible adult remains with children under the age of 16 throughout the session.

Can my child play on the same team as their friend?

We will look to incorporate requests for friends to be on the same team, however maintaining a competitive balance and meeting everyone's request may not be possible. Making new friends and teammates is part of the joy of the sport.

What if there is bad weather?

If we have to cancel a day’s play for weather, we will get the message out in 3 ways:

  1. Spond: If you download the app, you’ll be notified of changes as soon as we have them

  2. WhatsApp: We have a WhatsApp community, the links for each team are included in your registration email. You can use this to communicate with other parents in the league, but we’ll send updates out there too.

  3. Twitter: We’re not great at the social media (and looking for someone who would like to help run this!) but we will tweet the update as soon as we can.
